janemarcus:used/or know anyone who has used couchsurfing? I’m thinking it could be awesome, but I’d like to hear some first-hand experience first.

Yeah! I couchsurfed in Rapid City, SD and Cody, Wyoming.  I met some really great people and had some pretty amazing conversations.  Every one I know who has done it has had positive experiences, although it’s definitely a good idea to vet the people you’re surfing with/hosting.  Couchsurfers tend to be open, funny, nice people.
